Diary #5: Coming Home to Butler

Butler & MBToday’s destination was reached easily despite very cold weather. As we left Altoona we suspected nothing. We just saw some very dark clouds and realised it was cold. But on the road it got worse. When we spoke at the first stop, we learned that Vittorio was very cold. His hands were so cold they felt like two pieces of ice. We stopped at a general store on Route 422 and bought gloves for just $2. After that everything went pretty smoothly, despite the GPS trying to get us lost. We stopped at Kittanning for a sandwich and then back on the road! We reached Butler at about 4 pm and rushed to Diamond Park for a photo of the plaque proclaiming that the Jeep was designed by the Bantam company in this small Pennsylvania town. They are so proud of this that businesses use large wooden jeep signs – too bad we won’t be here for the 3rd annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
