A long, event-rich day took us from Butler to Medina (still in the US!). The day opened with a close-up encounter with two Bantam jeeps that can be considered the forerunners of the Willys. These cars, very special because of the very small number of survivors, were shown to us by Denny Glasgow of the Butler County Ford dealership, which stores them on behalf of the Butler Historical Society. There is an Italian connection too, because the dealership has been owned since 1926 by the Giovannetti family, originally from Arpino, just south of Rome. From Butler to Ohio was just a short ride. In the afternoon we ran into a vintage car drive-in in Wadsworth, Ohio, where many participants expressed their appreciation for our Homecoming project. Last but not least was the radio interview with Tony Marotta of Italian Sounds. All in all, there is little doubt that today was a great day. Tomorrow will be even better because that’s when we are slated to meet the Radigan family.
